  • Leadership Reinvented: the HEX perspective for 2025

This year’s theme for International Leadership Week, ‘leadership reinvented’, is more than a slogan. It’s a call to action.

At HEX, we’ve spent years helping leaders move beyond traditional models to embrace approaches that are human-centered, commercially savvy, and deeply intentional. Reinvention isn’t optional; it’s the new baseline for impact.

The pace of change, including AI disruption, hybrid work, and shifting employee expectations, has rendered yesterday’s leadership playbook obsolete. Reinvented leadership means leading with clarity, courage, and connection, not just control. It’s about creating conditions for people and performance to thrive together.

We’ve seen three clear shifts for senior leaders in 2025
  • From authority to authenticity: Leaders earn trust through vulnerability and integrity, not hierarchy.
  • From fixed structures to fluid networks: Reinvented leaders act as connectors, enabling collaboration across boundaries.
  • From predictability to possibility: They reframe uncertainty as opportunity, fostering cultures of experimentation and learning.
Bringing this to life
We consistently work with c-suite leaders to support their reinvention.

One was a CEO leading a business scaling at breakneck speed. Revenue was doubling year-on-year, but her leadership style hadn’t evolved, and she was drowning in detail. Growth was creating chaos. We gave space for reflection, allowing her to step back from the noise and reconnect with her purpose. We explored what her leadership looks like when she’s not fixing everything, and how she can build trust in others to lead and make decisions.

This encouraged her to cut through the chaos more effectively, investing in building a leadership team that could operate independently. These changes built a business that is now scaling without burning out its people and allowed the CEO to lead with clarity and calm.

Another was a CHRO who was in a role proving to be more political than practical. The board expected transformation, but the HR function was stuck in transactional mode. The CHRO felt isolated, under pressure, and unsure how to influence at the top table.

We focused on confidence and connection, working on self-awareness and resilience, finding his authentic voice, and renaming his influence as a partnership rather than policing or persuading.

The CHRO brought vulnerability into the room, sharing challenges openly and inviting collaboration. He’s now shifting from being seen as a functional expert to a strategic leader shaping culture and workforce strategy.

We have lots of frameworks and free resources to support executives to reinvent their leadership.
  1. The Beyond Potential leadership model
Reinvention demands leaders who balance people, purpose, and performance. Beyond Potential is our call to rise above limits, combining commercial acumen with human insight. It’s a mindset shift: from managing tasks to shaping systems and cultures.
  2. OI-4C framework for difficult conversations
Reinvented leadership isn’t just strategic, it’s relational. OI-4C equips leaders to handle feedback and challenge with confidence, turning tough conversations into catalysts for growth.
  3. CHRO Impact Framework
For HR leaders, reinvention means stepping into enterprise leadership, acting as the strategic conscience of the executive team and broader organisation. Our CHRO Impact Framework helps HR leaders elevate influence and navigate complexity with courage and curiosity.

Want to go deeper?

Leadership reinvented isn’t about abandoning what worked, it’s about evolving with purpose. At HEX, we help leaders go deeper, lead with intent, and create impact that lasts.
